BS High Security Mortice Lock
The new High Security Fortress Lock range reinforces ERA’s position as the UK’s largest producer of mortice locks.
The new Fortress range fully complies with both the European (BS EN 12209) and British (BS3621:2004) standards. Further recommendation from the police-endorsed Secured by Design programme guarantees insurance companies exacting criteria is not only met but exceeded.
There are three locks in the range: the Fortress Euro, the Fortress Oval and the Fortress 5 Lever Mortice. All are available in sashlock and deadlock versions, with hardened steel plates to defend against drilling and four hardened rollers in the deadlock to resist hacksawing. Locksmith kits are available and all the locks come complete with full fitting instructions.

• A mortice locked door will ensure that, even if a burglar has managed to enter your house through a window, he won’t be able to carry his plunder out through the door.

• Many insurance companies will specify a BS3621 five-lever mortice lock must be fitted as a condition of home insurance.

• Look out for the British Standard kitemark – the sign that assures the lock will withstand drilling, picking, cutting and forcing.

• ‘Choose a higher lever’. As levers facilitate the locking action, the more there are, the harder it will be for the lock to be forced. In most homes, mortice locks have between two and five levers.
