BS EN 1627 – 30

The European performance and test standards for the burglar resistance of windows, doors and shutters have now been published by the BSI.  This has come sooner than many have expected, and speculation over the future of BS 7950 and PAS 24 continues.

It has been previously suggested that the publication of the European standards as BS EN documents, would follow a revision of PAS 24, and all documents would be issued at the end of this year.

The national forward of BS EN 1627 does reference the existence of PAS 24, and its impending revision, and refers to some of the deficiencies of the European standards, though this still leaves specifiers, consumers and manufacturers in the dark as to the direction of our industry performance standards over the coming years.

However, grouphomesafe have a wide range of door, and door and window hardware solutions, including the Vectis Plus, Samson Handle and PAS 3621 multipoints that comply with the prescriptive requirements required by the European documents, whilst meeting the needs of the UK market including resistance to cylinder manipulation and snapping.

For further information regarding the implementation of BS EN 1627 -30, and grouphomesafe’s extensive product solutions, please contact your area sales manager, or contact us through our Ask the Experts link.
