TS007 has been
conceived to give a clear route to upgrading the cylinder security of
existing doors. The required performance rating of three stars can be
achieved in a number of ways, allowing would be purchasers to select the
most appropriate solution for their specific application, reassured
that whichever option they choose, it will resist attack.
grouphomesafe
has the widest range of products to meet these impending performance
standards, and for further details, please contact your area sales
manager or use our “Ask the experts” link.
From
the date of publication, the UK has a maximum period of six months to
publish the standards as BS EN documents, including the national
forward.
The UK’s main objections
revolve around consistency of manual intervention testing, which
constitute a significant proportion of the test routines, discrepancies
in the mechanical loading between the harmonised and current national
standards, and the fact that the EN documents to not adequately address
cylinder security.
However, by law,
conflicting national standards must be withdrawn, and therefore the
future for PAS 24 and BS 7950 remains very uncertain. Despite this, the
BSI and Secured By Design, supported by industry associations, are
determined to retain in some form, the security test requirements deemed
to be crucial to the certification of window and door products for the
UK market.
There are a number of
potential methods to achieve this, each with different implications to
manufacturers. The initial approach was to align PAS 24 and BS 7950
with the requirements of EN 1627-30, removing any conflicting clauses
from the national standards, whilst retaining those elements not
sufficiently covered by the European document. The revised PAS 24 and
BS 7950 would then be referenced as additional requirements in the
national forward of BS EN 1627.
However,
a second initiative has begun, whereby we may yet be able to retain the
test specifications of the UK standards in their current form, without
formal conflict with EN 1627 – 30, potentially reducing the
re-certification burden on hardware, and door and window manufacturers.
Grouphomesafe

This
will make it a legal requirement to CE mark any construction product
placed on the market, within the European Union, where the specification
of that product falls within the scope a harmonised standard, by July
1st 2013. Where proposed harmonised standards are introduced following
this date, compliance with the CPR will be mandatory after the finish of
the period of co-existence with relevant national standards.
For
further information on which product types will be affected, and how
Grouphomesafe can assist you to comply, please ask your Area Sales
